HOLISTIC THERAPIES

A holistic approach seeks an optimal well-being not just the absence of disease. Instead of focusing on a body part or ailment, it aims to balance the whole body: physical, mental and emotional.

Most of us can deeply resonate with the pressures of daily life. All too often being under periods of long-term stress can affect us in various ways, usually wearing us down, leaving us mentally drained and physically exhausted, even making us ill.

Holistic therapies can provide a time and space to switch off from chronic stress and relieve tensions. Reducing chronic stress in our lives can be key in optimising good health and building resilience.

The only way to know how reflexology, reiki, gentle release, Bach flowers or aromatherpy will help you is to try them!

I believe that holistic therapies are part of an integrative health system, where the different layers are treated, and for that we might need different modalities and techniques. Therefore, I am happy to work with other health professionals, conventionals or complementary.

NATUROPATHY

Having trained as a naturopath nearly 20 years ago, I deeply resonate with its principles. Naturopathy is a system of health care which promotes the body’s own self-healing mechanism. It uses natural therapies such as nutrition, herbal medicine, acupuncture, homeopathy, physical manipulations, hydrotherapy and other modalities, in accordance with Naturopathic Principles:

  • The Healing Power of Nature
The body can heal itself, given the right condition and treatment. There is a ‘Vital Force’ which is stimulated to promote health.

  • Treat the Cause, not a symptom
Identify the underlying cause of illness rather than eliminating (suppressing) symptoms.

  • Treat the Whole Person
Recognise a patient’s uniqueness by taking into account individual physical, mental, genetic, environmental, social and other factors.

  • Prevention is preferable to cure
Prevention is preferable to cure in order to keep the Vital Force at its optimum at all times.

  • Education
Naturopaths educate their patients by bringing a better understanding of health, how to maintain it and how to avoid getting sick. This way patients can take responsibility for themselves.

"Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better." ~ Albert Einstein

TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE (TCM)

There is so much wisdom in this ancient system of health - although I don't practice acupuncture anymore, my treatments are still inspired by its principles to restablish balance and I use the acupoints through pressure, holding or with crystals and essences.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) was developed over thousands of years and based on the belief that health comes from the balance of energy, Qi, flowing through the body.

TCM is rooted in the natural rhythms of the universe and nature, including the balance of Yin and Yang and the Five Elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, water).

TCM uses diverse modalities, not only acupuncture, but also practices such as  tuina (massage), herbs, QiGong (movement), moxibuxion (heat), cupping and gua sha (massage tools).

“Live in harmony with Yin and Yang, follow seasonal rhythms, eat and drink in moderation, keep regular habits, and do not overexert.”
— Huangdi Neijing

REFLEXOLOGY

Reflexology is a fabulous non-invasive holistic therapy. By gently working on reflex points and reflex areas on feet , hands, face or ears, it helps the whole body to move towards a state of wellbeing.

Reflexology is...

... non-invasive - clients remain fully clothed, they only need to remove socks/tights to access feet and lower legs.

... holistic - mind, body and spirit are all taken into consideration and treatments don't target conditions but aim to alleviate the symptoms and find the cause of the imbalance.

... complementary and therapy - treatments work well alongside conventional medicine and other therapies.

... suitable for all and every age.

Reflexology can benefit the whole body by promoting deep relaxation, reducing stress and tension, restoring energy levels, improves sleep patterns, increasing circulation, releasing endorphins, enhancing mood and wellness.

Our feet support us, they connect us to the earth, they ground us and allow us to move forward. They are also a mirror of who we are, our emotions and energies.  I invite you to take an essential step to look after yourself.

"The human foot is a masterpiece of engineering and a work of art." ~ Leonardo da Vinci

GENTLE RELEASE THERAPY - VAGUS NERVE

Specially focused on the vagus nerve, this therapy supports the body’s parasympathetic nervous system, promoting calm, reducing stress, and enhancing overall well-being. By gently stimulating the vagus nerve, this therapy helps regulate your body’s response to stress, aiding in emotional and physical recovery.

The treatment is divided into 4 in-depth protocols. For most this is carried out over a course of 4 sessions. The timeline in which you receive the treatments will depend on a number of factors, such as your current state of health and well being, as well as health and wellbeing, as well as how you respond to the sessions.

Working with the vagus nerve can help to regulate your heart rate, reduce blood pressure, promote overall cardiac health, promote healthy metabolism and digestion, reduce inflammation, regulate emptions, improve hormonal health, alleviate headaches & migraines, support anxiety and depression ans improve your stress response.

“If our nervous system detects safety, then it’s no longer defensive. When it’s no longer defensive, then the circuits of the autonomic nervous system support health, growth, and restoration.”
— Stephen W. Porges

GRT Spirit Points
SPIRIT POINTS

There are 12 Spirit Acupuncture Points, and each of the points helps to free you from constructs of your life that are stopping you living in the path of your true destiny. Using Gentle Release Therapy to intuitively clear the points rather than acupuncture, this treatment is deep very powerful.

Life can sometimes get a bit messy as the world sorts things out to get you back on path. However, it is said the aligning with your destiny will bring you joy, so your destiny will be a place of contentment and happiness. Whilst it is of a spiritual nature we have seen physical ailments resolved with this treatment too, and found it supportive for depression and anxiety.

A treatment would normally be either one two hour session or a couple of shorter treatments. One or two sessions can bring about powerful and substantial change.

BACH FLOWER REMEDIES

Bach flower remedies are gentle, natural essences developed by Dr. Edward Bach in the 1930s to support emotional balance and well-being. Made from wildflowers and plants, each remedy is designed to address a specific emotional state, such as fear, grief, or lack of confidence. There are 38 Bach Remedies covering all our different states of emotions. We all experience all sorts of feelings, none of them are wrong and there is no judgement, just the willingness to help people turn negative feelings into more positive ones.

“Flowers are the purest and simplest form of nature’s medicine, guiding us gently back to balance.”
— Dr. Edward Bach

ESSENCIAL OILS

Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that capture the natural aroma and healing properties of flowers, leaves, barks, roots, fruits, seeds, grasses and resins. They have been used for centuries in traditional medicine and rituals to support physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. When inhaled or applied to the skin (properly diluted), essential oils can help reduce stress, improve mood, support immunity, and ease physical discomfort. Each oil carries its own unique properties.

“The fragrance of the herbs and plants is a healing breath from God, a balm for the soul and body alike.”
— Hildegard of Bingen

REIKI

Reiki is a gentle, hands-on healing practice that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. It involves the practitioner channeling universal life energy through their hands to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. The word “Reiki” combines two Japanese words: “rei” meaning universal, and “ki” meaning life energy. Reiki supports the body’s natural ability to heal itself and encourages deep relaxation and inner peace.

A beautiful way to bring our chakras into balance.

“Ki is the invisible energy that sustains life and flows through the universe, binding all creation.”
— Traditional Reiki teachings
